Welcome Home
Puyleart Brothers Construction is a small company with Scott, Shawn, and Chris Puyleart the owner operators of the company. We are one of the few truly hands-on builders in the area. We do all of the framing, siding, and finish carpentry on all of our projects.
By doing this we get to be on the jobsite during all phases of their projects. We pride ourselves on quality not quantity and approach every project as if it were on our own home.
We keep the lines of communication open to everyone during our projects to make sure that everything is exactly the way it should be; your picture perfect home.

"We began interviewing several general contractors to build our house. Our interview with Scott Puyleart was quite different, though. Scott came to our house when both my wife and I were going to be home – 7 pm. He didn’t rush through anything. As a matter of fact, he was at our house until we had no more questions – which was almost three hours. Scott is very detail oriented and he pointed out some things to us that no other builder had. For this reason, it was an easy decision to hire Puyleart Brothers Construction to build our house. We knew we wanted Puyleart Brothers to build our house even before the bids came in.
The building process was very easy for us, something we hadn’t heard many other couples say about their building projects. The Puyleart Brothers Construction crew is very easy to get along with. We had open communication with them throughout the entire building process. There were several times that the house plan called for something do be done that Scott or Shawn thought would be better if done differently. Often times they were right. They would bring suggestions to us and listen to our thoughts, then we would work together to make changes that improved the design of our house. Scott and Shawn were flexible before and during the building process, which made it a wonderful experience for us.
As a result of Scott’s willingness to stay in the initial meeting as long as it took to understand what we wanted in our house, the dedication of the Puyleart Brothers crew, and their flexibility during the building process, our house is far better than I could have ever imagined."

"Building our home with Puyleart Brothers was truly an enjoyable experience from beginning to end. We are very pleased with the quality of construction and appearance of our home. Communication is key, and Scott and Shawn were both very accessible throughout the project. They had great ideas and suggestions, and we felt that we were in partnership with them every step of the way. Without hesitation we would ask them to build for us again!"

"We had met Scott about 6 years earlier at one of his Showcase Homes. At that time we were very impressed with his craftsmanship and work ethic. So when we needed to put an addition on our home, the choice was easy – Puyleart Brothers!! We had multiple meetings with Scott to discuss what we wanted. He was very helpful and gave us some great suggestions. With a baby on the way, staying on budget was very important to us and they were right on! They kept us up-to-date during the entire process and cleaned up after every work day. We were so happy with our addition, that only 5 months later we are already on to our next project with them!!"

“I couldn’t believe how knowledgeable they were, we saw a few of their homes in the Showcase and were really impressed. After talking with them I knew they were the builders for us, and the whole experience was wonderful. They always gave us their honest opinions, even when it wasn’t what we wanted to hear. I had my heart set on white wood all throughout the house, and Scott told me that because the home was so big it would look too sterile. He talked me into a warmer wood for most of the house, and let me have white in the master bedroom and sunroom. Now that we moved in I realize that he was right – it would have been cold and sterile and not an environment you could relax in. I love the way it turned out, and appreciate him for being honest. If he hadn’t said anything it would have been disastrous!”

"In 2007 the Puyleart Brothers built an amazing bedroom and bath addition to our home for my aging father. Scott Puyleart took time to listen to our ideas, meet with my dad, and understand our needs. His attention to detail was invaluable to us: he seamlessly matched the siding t our home, made suggestions regarding the windows, found wheelchair accessible French doors, and created a cathedral ceiling effect where it wasn’t possible to engineer one. The subcontractors that he chose were exceptional – the tile work in the bathroom is exquisite and the electrician provided many additional creative ideas. The job site was cleaned up each day, keeping the construction dust and debris to a minimum. Scott’s estimate of time and cost were accurate and we were able to move my dad in right on time. To this day my father calls his room the “glass cathedral “and insists everyone come see it! Thank you Scott and Puyleart Brothers for the beautiful addition to our home and the gentle transition you provided for my dad."

“My wife Judy and I met Scott at the “Showcase of Homes” back in 2005. We went there after three Door County builders whom we spent over three hours each, going over our house plans for bids. Apparently our Door County home was not big enough for their efforts.
Puyleart Brothers showcase home was the first one we stopped at. We were impressed with the home’s floor plan, material, and craftsmanship. During the tour of other “Showcase Homes,” we asked which builders would be willing to build a home in Door County. Four others said they would consider our request. Scott gave us a list of sub-contractors that he used. We talked with the person who did the tile work. He said that he enjoyed laying tile in Puyleart’s houses because they were extremely square, something a tile man enjoyed. We also went to homes built be Puyleart Brothers and talked with the people. Everyone told us about the favorable working conditions with Scott and how satisfied they were.
Having done the research on the largest investment that you would make in your life, we chose Puyleart Brothers to build our home.
The first thing that we liked was the fact that Scott allowed us to go out and pick items that would go into the house like, appliances, electrical fixtures, floor coverings, etc. This helped us bring a solid total price to the project, without Scott having to guess what we might like. You hear about the dreaded “over-runs” that make a project turn into a horror story.
The first 2x6 was nailed on July 23, 2007 and we moved into our retirement home on October 6. Our home is 1,699 square feet on the first floor, 600 square feet upstairs, with 2.5 baths craftsman style bungalow.
The thing that I liked about working with Puyleart Brothers was that they would layout the next week’s work and almost to the day say what would be happening. We did not lose one day on construction to weather or any problems with sub-contractors. The day before a sub would come to work up here in Sister Bay, all the material that would used was here on site.
The best side story about our project and Puyleart Brother’s work was that one day during the framing process, Scott apologized for the saw dust and ends of wood lying around the floor. When I came back that evening, all wood pieces and saw dust was cleaned up. Scott said that he knew that neighbors would walk through the project site after they were done for the day and he wanted to show them a clean work site and how he did business. That meant a lot to me and how he did things. “No Smoking” signs were placed on all entry doors during construction, which was another plus to me. I also appreciated having Scott or Shawn talked with me, not down to me, about their ideas on items not specifically laid out in the plans. We have had so many people visit our home in Door County and praise so many details that were put into our homes. The best form of a compliment came when we went to Scott’s new home, which he built right after our home and saw ideas that were in our home. I guess we had some good ideas.
If we were ever going to build again, or need something added to our present home, we would call Scott in a heartbeat.
If you are ever up in Sister Bay and would like to see their work, ask for our number and we are sure that they will give it to you.”

“We had contacted so many different contractors and had numerous companies come thru to give us a quote for our addition, but not very many followed thru on providing us with a quote. I found Puyleart Brothers Construction on the Brown County Home Builders Association website. I contacted several companies from that website but Scott was the only one that followed thru on providing us with a reasonable quote. He traveled from Green Bay to Appleton to meet with us when it was convenient for us. He walked thru our house as we discussed what we wanted to change and he listened to us discuss our needs. He really listened and understood what we were looking for. He drew up a sketch for us to see what he was thinking as well as giving us a quote. The first quote was a little too much for our budget but Scott adjusted the sketch and re-quoted the project. He answered all of my questions during his visit and then by e-mail or phone. He acknowledged our kids and pet and made everyone feel at ease. I was really nervous about the construction process and have heard many horror stories regarding construction. Well Puyleart Brothers did such a wonderful job that I would do another construction project with them in a heartbeat. It was so easy and they were such great people that we enjoyed the process. They were caring, clean, hard working and honest. We would definitely call them in for another project. We love our addition and receive many compliments on it. Even now that our project is done, I can still contact Scott with questions and he still responds quickly. I was never left hanging by them which, was a great feeling. I look forward to the day that I can do another project with them.”

"Chris Puyleart is an excellent builder / contractor who sets high standards for quality work for himself and all his sub-contractors. Chris met with both of us, listened to our ideas, answered our questions, and gave us a complete breakdown of project costs so that we could decide exactly what to have done. Chris is well organized. Our project required coordination of electrical work, heating and cooling, plastering, and flooring with all stages of the project completed quickly and on schedule. Chris took the time to tape off the work area to help eliminate construction dust from the rest of our living spaces. He also cleaned up well and removed all building waste. We love our new open concept room and the new construction blends seamlessly with the old."

"Recently, we had a full bathroom installed in our basement by Puyleart Brothers Construction. It was a project we had been putting off for many years, mostly due to the fear of not being able to find a qualified construction crew. Last year we went to a Showcase of Homes and liked a home that was built by Puyleart Brothers. Besides the excellent construction and finish work, what intrigued us was the ejector pit pump in the unfinished basement. It was exactly what we needed to see to construct our bathroom. Our house uses a septic tank and we had no existing plumbing in the basement. We met with Chris one evening and got to know him and learned about his company. It was an easy decision to hire the brothers! He was so courteous and listened to what we wanted for our future bathroom. At our next meeting he showed us three floor plans to choose from and let us take our time to decide. Once the decision to go ahead was made, the building process flowed so well. Chris is a great general contractor! All of the tradesmen told us how much they liked working for the brothers. Chris always let us know who was coming out the next day, what time they planned on starting and what work was going to be done. Chris was on site every day to make sure the work was completed to our and his satisfaction, and to answer any of our questions and the site was always cleaned up at the end of the day. Chris and his brothers really do care about the building projects they work on, and their sub-contractors were all so qualified and easy to talk to.
Our finished bathroom is beautiful and we love it! We are so glad we chose Puyleart Brothers and if there is another construction project in our future we'll ask them to build for us again.
PS: Our neighbor came to see our new bathroom and was so impressed with the quality of work; she hired Puyleart Brothers Construction for her remodeling project!"

"Puyleart Brothers were wonderful. They had excellent ideas while listening and accommodating all of our needs. They were professional and all of their work was the highest quality. Home building is very stressful and they made it very easy for us. I would recommend them to anyone."
